Pipe Dreams

this is totally random, but fueled by another completely mediocre internet date and two hendricks (thanks, TheBoy) martinis:

someday i will have my own blog template with unique site design and logo and URL.

someday.

  1. Google about for 'blog template' and you should come across some free ones which would alow you to custom them to your taste.

  2. I don't know how much flexibility Blogger gives you as far as templating goes, but it's not rocket science to run Wordpress, if you can find a friend to host you. And Wordpress is pretty much infinitely customizable then.

  4. Of course you will! I want one too, I just have no idea how to do it!

  5. A lofty, lofty goal...
...if only you knew anyone who did those web/computer/internets type thingies.
I guess it will just have to remain a dream.

  6. You and me both! I can make fairly decent banners in photoshop, but I can't seem to customize bloggers templates.

Blogger needs WAY more template designs.

  8. I am in the process of doing just that. I have purchased a domain name, and am having a designer create the template for me using pictures that I submitted. I just got the first draft of the template to this morning. It is terribly exciting.

  9. I've used Rapid Weaver to set up a website, but have never designed my own - they offer templates too but with more options than Blogger does.

  10. Kristy, not website stuff, but have you tried knitting and felting yet? There's a darling backpack or tote pattern out there (looks like an LLBean bag only you knit it and felt it)... i'm starting one today... fun fun fun!!!

  11. Word Press is not that difficult and opens up a whole new world of themes that you can just point and click to use or you can spend countless mind numbing hours tweaking and fine tunning.

  12. the is is from the same mike as above, I just hit enter too early... There is a whole internet communinty out there that will help you set-up your own domain and blog software. I will however say that if you use Picasa with Hello and Blogger to up-load photos to your blog there is nothing simpler. I wish wordpress could handle photos the way blogger does... Ok I'll shut-up now.

  13. There's this Web site -- I think it's www.webdivas.net. They create really cool sites for you, but I think you do have to pay for it. I think my friend got one for $40? They're nice, though. Good luck! :)

  14. I am in awe of people with computer and interneting skills. To be honest, I’m pretty impressed that I manage to do what I do with my blog considering my technical ineptitude. An original template, URL, logo, all these things I would like to have. But really, probably not so much gonna happen for me any time soon. An acquaintance of mine from college days back in Madison, Mac, has about the coolest blog set-up around. And she had a blog back before blogs were even cool.

  16. Ask and you shall receive. It was great to read all of this advice about blog templates - a free tutorial! Great site, btw. Most blogs are flush with self-absorbed drivel, so I'm always thrilled to find one that is smart, witty and well-written!

  17. There are a million sites that will design one for you and you can still use blogger. The process was actually fairly easy for me (and I'm pretty much an idiot). Check out Julie and bonefidestyle.com... she's a sweetheart and totally amazing.
