BLAHBLAHLOSEWEIGHTBLAHBLAH

Whatever, resolutions.

2009 was kind of a giant, kick-ass year for me while (it seems) that it sucked for pretty much everyone else. So I kind of skipped the whole "let's reflect on the last year" and DEFINITELY forgot to reflect on the last decade, and just sort of shuffled quietly into 2010.

Every time I've tried to get into the spirit of reflections-cum-resolutions, I get all excited about how great the next year will be because I'm convinced I will actually lose weight, write more, get more organized, etc. (Remember my declaration of "No Joy In '06"?) And then I don't do any of those things.

I think it would be great if I managed to meet any of my personal goals in 2010. But like, starting Monday.

Well come ON. First of all, there's this whole it's-still-the-holidays-right?-weekend going on right now, and you can't diet at the holidays. Plus I got a gorgeous stand mixer for Christmas and need to try it out (since that's the polite thing to do, thanks Mom-In-Law!) and who uses a stand mixer for low-fat veggie dishes*? No one I know. And that is why, at 2:57 p.m. on January 1st, I have a cheesecake in the oven and am eyeing the bourbon.

I hope your holidays were joyous and safe and warm and filled with fun. Mine were. Though they were also totally different than they've ever been for lots of reasons (and one baby reason), and I haven't gotten my head around what comes next.

So, right. Cheesecake. Bourbon.

Monday.

Happy New Year's!

*Thank you, Julie, for pointing out that the asterisk didn't go anywhere. I wish I had any idea at all what I was intending to write here. LA LA LA.

  2. I missed the no joy in '06...I was working and not blogging at that time.

I may turn myself in to Weight Watchers this year. What with the rheumatoid arthritis and all..it makes it hard to work out much. Water aerobics is good, but probably doesn't burn enough calories...so...that means I have to cut down on them...calories. crap...I love to cook and eat what I cook.

My biggo stand mixer is in a lower cabinet and comes out maybe once a year. This year Costco and Sam's did our baking and that was fine. I think the cookies are about polished off now....and we only have a ham, and a turkey and something else ridiculous in the fridge, but I'm not going to have to cook for a while.

    Happy New Year!

  4. I remember No Joy in 06, and figured I would join in and well it never happened.

Which is cool because, well all seems to have worked out. And obviously you can't start a diet on a weekend. To Monday!

    Happy New Year!

  6. I have to lose between 40 and 50 lbs by the end of July for my brother's wedding in August. It's bad enough that, at 37 (almost 38 by then!) I'll be the oldest bridesmaid...I have to at least look like I blend with the 26 year olds.

I'm starting Monday as well. Two pounds a week. That's not hard. Right? RIGHT??

Sorry to freak on your blog. Happy New Year!!

  7. I got a KitchenAid stand mixer quite a few years ago as a Christmas present, and I absolutely LOVE it! We use it for everything - - have all the attachments, including the can opener, so we leave it out and use it all the time.

Oh, and? Mondays are ALWAYS a good time to start a diet - - dont' want to ruin a perfectly good Holiday weekend, right?

    Happy 2010, Kristy! :-)
