Hmm. A Thought for Friday.

I just scratched my nose and realized my new nose stud has fallen out.

See, I got my nose pierced three years ago, and have worn that very basic, sturdy stud since then. Until last week, that is, when Em (who I need a better name for) got a good deal on a twofer plastic nose stud set. So she gave me one and I have been wearing it, though I guess it's not as secure as my first one was.

Um, right. So now that you have THAT fascinating backstory, I get to my thought for the day:

Question: What was the VERY FIRST place I looked when I realized something had fallen off of my face?

Answer: That's right. Between my boobs.

After realizing the stud was not in, on, or around my nose, without a moment's hesitation, I looked down, pulled my v-neck away from my bra and scanned the area. Nothing.

Instinctively, I then shoved my hand DOWN my bra, probing and prodding, in case the nose stud had fallen into the depths of my endless cleavage and I hadn't noticed.

[I would liken this move to someone who is alone and thinks maybe they've gotten some food stuck in their back molars and just needs to poke around their mouth a little with their whole hand to get it loose. You know?]

Anyway, I suddenly realized what I was doing (good thing I am alone) and stopped myself, hand in bra, fingers roaming around somewhere under my left funbag and wondered,

Hey, women with normal-sized breasts? Is your bra the first place YOU look for items missing from your face?

I don't know how often things fall from your face really, but nevertheless -- your answer is probably no, huh? Like, probably you look someplace like...oh, I dunno...your lap? Yeah?

Fascinating.

*And to answer your question, no. I have not located the nose stud yet. But I have been known to take off my bra at home after a night at the movies and have popcorn fall out, so who knows.

  1. Whenever I lose something, the first place *I* look is in your cleavage.

  2. Bed....no need to look in the bra but it is usually on the bathroom floor from towel drying my hair or in the bed....how depressing is THAT?

  4. That is the very first place I look. Believe me, it's a veritable treasure chest. Pun intended.

  5. I don't know if I always look there first, but it is always where stuff ends up. Nothing worse than taking your bra off and having a bunch of crumbs fall out. I also tend to spill more when I'm eating right on the boob area. My theory has something to do with their gravitational pull.

  7. I blame it on the fact that large boobs are just magnetic.
I once lost a necklace at the start of a date, only to rediscover it in my dress when I got home(after a miserable date, since it was a favorite necklace.)
My ex STILL thinks it's lost- I just couldn't bring myself to tell him otherwise when I realized where it had been hiding out.

  8. Between, under and around my boob-al area is ALWAYS where I look for lost earrings. I was singing with a band last night and the mic fell out of the stand and landed a direct hit in my cleavage - and stuck straight up. Sigh.

Favorite story - One day looking frantically for my cell before leaving to go out with my parents, my Dad suggested that I call it. I did, but couldn't locate the sound of the ring. After a minute of me running around the house like a weasel on speed, my Dad said, "Uh. I think your chest is ringing."

I generally don't have a lot of pockets in my clothes so I used to stick my cell phone in my bra when I was home and didn't want to lose track of it.

Note: storing your cell phone thusly can result in really, permanently screwing up the battery contacts.

  9. Yeah, I also tend to discover things in my bra when I get home at night. Gummy bears, popcorn, earrings. It's where everything ends up. I'm a DD, so I'm not sure how it works for the "normal" girls...

  10. I'm DD as well, so a lot of things do seem to find their way there.

  11. Okay, am I the only "normal" girl here? I have to say I have never lost anything in my breasts. Okay I'm going to go cry now.

  12. I was helping my son with an art project one day and later thought my bra was kind of itchy but I was busy so I forgot about it. When I took it off later a bunch of colored sequins fell out.

  13. I guess I am the second "normal" girl here--never, ever lost anything in my breasts (notice I didn't say cleavage because, well, that'd be too hopeful). *sob*

  14. Um, I can't remember the last time I took my bra off and didn't find something in there besides just my boobs. Crumbs, hair, jewelry and yes even my cell phone. Not that I lost it in there, but I too have discovered that it makes a handy resting place for the phone when your hands are full. Just using what the good Lord blessed me with, I guess.

  15. crumbs, jewelry, cat hair (YUCK!), bits of yarn, definitely popcorn/ rice cakes, always where my contact ends up if i drop it. i'm never the girl groping around on the floor for my contacts, nope, groping my tits. and usually it's there. also, i tend to be clumsy with food... i spill, splash, drool, etc., and all my shirts get stains sooner or later. but only on the top half.

i know girls with the small boobs wish for the bigger ones, but it's vice versa also. somedays it would be nice to be considered "petite" on top!

  17. Friday night I had a nacho pop out onto the floor out of my bra....sigh...I'm with ya..lol.

  18. Ha! Yes, I've looked in my bra for things that have fallen off...and found them. It's kind of like your own personal catchbasin. I like it.

  19. Depending on my neckline, I totally check the boobs for dropped items. I was out to dinner with the fiance today and dropped something in my scoopneck shirt (deep scoop). He asked "Did you comment on K's blog about the fact that you're always looking in your boobs for dropped stuff, too?". So there. I've commented. :-P

  20. This is an old post,
but I just recently discovered your blog.
And yes my chest is the first place I look. I'm a DD too.
It's also the first place food drips on.
