A Mr. Darcy Giveaway! ooooOOOOOooooo!

You guys.

I almost never do giveaways on my blog because it's rare that I'm offered a giveaway that makes sense for "my readers." Some of you will remember when I was given the chance to give away a $600 bike? Yes? And that was fine and fun. But then also there was the time I gave away about $40 worth of booze just because I felt like it and GUESS which giveaway had more entries?

That is why I love you all so very much.

So! When A&E approached me asking if I wanted to give away a DVD prize pack (worth $100) that includes THE DIGITALLY RESTORED BBC PRIDE & PREJUDICE MINISERIES (that's the one with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, folks) I was like YES, YES I DO!

But maybe I stipulated that I needed one of the copies, too.

Yes, I own the old one.

Of course, there's more to this prize pack than just Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, but, well, priorities. Honestly, if you've never seen the whole mini-series, it's totally worth it. It's a great rainy-Sunday marathon.  In fact -- and no offense to Ang Lee, here -- once you've seen Jane Austen NOT shoved into an under-two-hour format, it's hard to go back.

I watch this mini-series from start to finish at least once a year. It's so well done, so well acted, so fun, I don't know. I just love it.

And it makes Colin Firth in Bridget Jones's Diary that much more hilarious and fantastic.

So um, okay. Here's the deal:

  1. Leave a comment below. You can say anything you want. Maybe you have some thoughts about Mr. Darcy in his wet shirt, for example. I dunno, I'm just thinking off the top of my head here.
  2. Please include your email address in the comment. This way I can contact you if you win, and theoretically you won't enter 900 million times.
  3. Please comment by Wednesday, May 26 at 5 p.m. PDT.
  4. I will choose a prize-pack winner at random. Yay!

The prize pack includes (details on each of these are below):
  • The Complete Season One of Rita Rocks
  • The Complete Season One of Sherri (btw? I watched some of these and she is really funny!)
  • Movies:
    Girl Positive
    To be Fat Like Me
    The Two Mr. Kissels
    Racing for Time
Annnnnnnnd....

So good luck! Enter! Enjoy! Wet shirts! (What?)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Let me start by saying brevity is not my strong suit, esp. involving Colin Firth... Wet shirt? I'm good just watching the man walk. I came *this close* (fingers a millimeter apart) from casually suggesting we hunt for Mr. Darcy/Mr. Firth while on my honeymoon in the UK (for purely academic reason, nothing stalkerish I assured him), only my fiance nixed that idea for some ABSURD reason... (Sidenote: favorite part = floating Mr. Darcy head in carriage ride, top that Ang Lee!) Have the BBC's P&P miniseries on VHS but wore it out. Then my DVD set was loaned to a friend but has not returned... I've watched this miniseries repeatedly during the ass-end of each of my first two pregnancies, and I'm ripe with child again - would love to keep up the tradition of ogling over Mr. Darcy with this last bun in the oven. *Sigh* There is no other Mr. Darcy.

Are there extra points for obnoxiously long messages? :-)

This hurts because I have the original copy of the DVD, but this new and improved one has the featurette. Ack. The agony.

There is an excellent book that goes behind the scenes of the movie, it was published several years ago (The Making of Pride and Prejudice) - I highly recommend it as well.

  93. I spent the morning (like 3-5am) post Thanksgiving 5 years ago intermittently sleeping on my firneds couch and watching P&P that was running marathon style on BBC. I already loved Colin, this made me love him more. And made me hate having to get myself off the couch to prepare for Festival of Lights in Yountville. But that might have been my screaming hangover. Pre-kids my friends were party animals. Thank god they all had kids, now atleast the hangovers are more of a mild throbbing.
So I know less about why I love the movie and more about me but I would LOVE LOVE to own it, and all of the other goodies mentioned becuase they always make me think of awesome friend memories.
