Report From The Trenches

The BlogHer Conference is in 38 days.

At 4:25 p.m. today I had the following IM exchange with Snarky:

Me: WHY does the online reservation say that the rooms are sold out if they are NOT SOLD OUT? THEY ARE NOT SOLD OUT! WHY IS IT SAYING THAT?

Snarky: Because God wants you to be an alcoholic.

  1. Probably because the online block is sold out, but the regular block isn't. Some hotels have systems like that where they have to "move" rooms into the online block. It's stupid, but it happened to me this year too. Breathe!

  2. Classic. I love Snarky's comment. Seems to be a good explanation to me.

  6. It goes back to the power of marketing. People are more apt to book if they think rooms are almost sold out. When a message is posted to say that they already are, this is supposed to compel you to contact the hotel directly and begin your own sly bargaining. That way, you would also bypass the commission of the middle man!
