The Great De-Plumping Project!

I started Medifast on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

Who starts a weight-loss program on a Tuesday? Shutup, whatever.

As some of you know, I went on Medifast about eight months after Eve was born (March '10), and was largely (HA, PUN!) successful except for a few wagon fall-offs, followed by getting knocked up again. So, right.

Now it is fall, 2011, which you know already. But also, I am four months post-partum, and weigh EXACTLY WHAT I WEIGHED WHEN I STARTED MEDIFAST THE FIRST TIME.

Nothing like going back to the drawing board.

But this time, there's no chance of a pregnancy to derail me. Really, there's nothing in my way anymore at all except me. Hello, clean slate.

And what's the big deal anyway, right? If I can restrict my diet (read: wine) for 9 months of pregnancy --  TWICE -- why can't I do the same one more time? I mean, no, there's no kid on the other end of this, but there IS health. And energy. And WAY better shopping.

So here it is. My video series. VIDEO SERIES. AHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm calling this my Great De-Plumping Project.

P.S. I'm sure I need to give this series a better and more SEO-friendly name that's also funny and clever, but "De-Plumping" was all I could come up with. I suppose "From MLOB to MILF" could work, even though "MLOB" doesn't mean anything, it just sounds like BLOB or GLOB. Which totally works. So, I'm looking for suggestions. Although if you tell me I have to call this something like "Fat Mom Gets Fit" I will throw a Medifast shaker jar at you.

  1. I might be totally creeping here. But in my defense, when you have a blog, sort of an unintended consequence is that strangers get to know you. And I've enjoyed reading your blog for a little while, so I'm one of those strangers that sort of knows you.

    I watched your video and I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you for doing "your scary thing" and I'm excited to read updates about your progress!

    I will say that I have weighed all kinds of things, some I hated and some I was okay with. And the common thread running through all of it, is that my whole life tends to get better when I'm exercising regularly. I have had long periods of non-exercise, long periods of serious exercise, and lots in the middle. I find is that regular exercise seems to solve problems you didn't think it could.

    Okay, I'll end my annoying and unsolicited advice. The point of this post is to tell you that random internet strangers support you! I hope that's reassuring and not creepy.

    I weighed 248 the summer before college. Now, almost 10 years later, I'm almost 100 pounds down. If I can do it, with my less-than-half-as-funny blog, YOU can do it.

  3. I like De-plumping. You could have a naming contest though, just for fun.

    For health reasons (blood pressure trying to hit new heights), and a niggling voice in my head that keeps a vicious countdown to my hitting forty, and is this the body I'm taking with me - not a nice voice; I'm trying to take it down/in a few belt holes myself. I wish you lots of luck and send good thoughts your way. Here's to jeans that fit! Except I'm toasting you with a tall glass of no calorie water, sigh.

  4. kristy! This is such an awesome post!!! I am really excited for you - and I really hope you share with us how it goes!! I have been reading your blog since {the craigslist post} and guess what - I lost over 100lbs myself! (well it was 120lbs at one point...but I'm working to re-lose those few extras).

    Anyway, my point is, I'm totally a fan of yours - and YOU can totally do it! Because if I did it - I know you will too!

    So work it girl! Keep at it, and it will totally happen!!!

    My biggest motto to myself was "trust the system" - which just means if you are doing what you are supposed to do, in the long run it's going to work. :)

    Personally, I think you were made to be "on TV" -- no matter what your number is! Those huge, expressive eyes and that singer's voice of yours add up to a very watchable person.

  9. You are so, so brave. I will be watching/reading and cheering you on as well... and maybe you can inspire me to do the same thing. I won't even appear in my kiddos home movies because I hate the way I look on video. And the voice.... THE VOICE! Somehow even though my sisters and I all sound the same, the sound of my voice on tape makes me want to run screaming (which is also a god awful sound, especially when recorded). Does Medifast do anything about screechy, annoying voices? If so - SOLD!

    P.S. I know if doesn't really matter, but for the record you ROCKED it at the Clever Girls party, those pictures are wrong.

  10. YAY for your bravery in posting that! I have to say that there was something freeing about posting my actual weight on my blog. However, I was careful to make sure my husband didn't know what that initial number was because I didn't want to be quite that free, and I didn't want him to know that I outweighed him by about 50 pounds. However, I now weigh less than him, which I am pretty happy about.

    Can't wait to follow you on your journey!

As closely guarded as military secrets (well, better, actually, because no one is wikileaking my weight!). I hope you never doubt your fabulousness, at whatever weight you are.

  13. Congrats on jumping back on that horse. You can totally do this! I remember a little more than a year ago, it was you that inspired me to start the Couch to 5k program. Have you thought about trying that again? Remember how you tried it and surprisingly you didn't die? I think you should try it again. It will make you feel so good! I've continued to run for a year now and I'm so glad I started. I've never gotten beyond the 5k distance, but man has it improved my fitness and I feel awesome after my runs. That awesome feeling alone encourages me to eat right and want to keep up a healthy lifestyle.

  17. I loved your video. That weight number isn't so bad! From how traumatized you are about it, I expected something far worse, but that isn't bad at all. You'll easily get down to where you want to be. Good luck! And the nose fat thing was hilarious.

  18. Great post! Loved your video and I for one am inspired! I have a similar maternity wear story -- bought a swim suit (tankini) on sale at target this summer and got the bottoms in XL. When I took them up to the register I realized they were maternity. How could I not have noticed? Here's to non-maternity swim suits next summer!

  23. Oh my God. You are so amazing! I totally gasped & covered my mouth and exclaimed, "Oooh girl! No she didn't!" at your bad-assness when you pulled up your shirt and revealed that maternity panel in your jeans. Hell yeah! I mean... geez that was brave and you don't see that at all anymore in the real world where people don't look each other in the eye and relationships begin and end via text messaging.

    I am right. there. with. you. Same number, same size boobies, pants with full maternity panel (except I'm 10 months post giving birth.... Eeeeeek!). And I'm still not on an official diet. I don't know where to start and I can't spend much money (major deterrent to to be talked into it though).
    You just might have inspired me to jump in too and shake that mommymaker and get real sized again - rather than over sized.

    I'd still like another baby at some point, so I might have to do this twice. I'm one baby behind you (started with a boy).
